The South Beach Diet is broken down into three phases which aim to help you reduce cravings, lose weight and keep it off for good. Phase 1: Kickstart the weight loss and eliminate your cravings This phase of the diet only lasts for the first 2 weeks of the South Beach Diet and is in place to help you reduce your cravings for products such as sugar and refined starch and ultimately stabilise your blood sugar levels – the low GI Diet also helps dieters to stabilise sugar levels. Any diet which stabilises sugar levels and reducing cravings is perfect for anyone looking to lose a large amount of weight or dieters who are prediabetic or diabetic. <Phase 2: Lose weight at a steady pace Losing weight on any weight loss plan is about dieting sensibly and losing weight at a steady pace which is why the South Beach Diet encourages dieters to aim for long term weight loss – obviously this will vary dependant on the amount of weight you have to lose. Dieters with less than 10lbs to lose can start at phase 2 especially if you don’t have the cravings for products mentioned above in phase 1. Phase 2 is also a great starting point for people who wish to just generally improve their health or dieters with little stomach fat to lose.
