| Is the diet working? |

25th February 2008
I now weigh 104.2, so I have lost 1.3 kilogram’s, or in old money 2.86pounds. I have been on and off the diet, so am not unhappy with the weight loss. Friends who have been dieting for some time tell me that a pound a week is good going and easier to keep off, than if I had lost five pounds in the first week. It has not been difficult and I have not starved myself. I have cut back on bread, spreads and beer, but not given them up completely. One thing that I have found easier to give up than I thought is meat. I have cut back to twice a week and have not missed it. I am eating vegetables and fish, but have steered away from processed vegetarian food. I did try some quorn, but I found it tasteless and am just as happy leaving it out altogether. After weighing myself I went down stairs and flaunted the new physique to my beloved. She was singularly unimpressed and said that the next few weeks would be the decider! Thanks for the support. Heavily influenced by TV shows, I carried around a two pound bag of sugar all day on Saturday and yes it did feel good when I put it down. I am now going to try exercise. But what sort I hear you ask. The easy sort is my reply; I will start with a gentle stroll after dinner and gradually build up to a jog. I do not know how long this will take, but have come to the conclusion that this is a marathon not a dash. We seem to put pressure on ourselves, when we take on this dieting. Why? It is my body and I will benefit, so I will do it at my own pace. As long as I know that the weight is coming of and that I feel better, then what has it got to do with anybody else? Too much is made of losing weight quickly, suffering and then putting all of it back on again. No, this time I will lose weight and keep it of.
