9th February 2008 105.5 kilograms 177.5 centimeters Male As I approach my fiftieth birthday, I have decided that the time is right for a bit of a body overhaul. I should go to one of the extreme makeover shows and they could cut off all the bits that are not supposed to be there, but as that is about as likely as Millwall winning the European Cup, I will have to resort to more tried and tested methods. So where do I begin? If you ever go on a diet you can guarantee that every person you speak to has been there, done that. But how many actually achieve a goal. Well from the people that I have spoken to, not that many. Yes, they have all lost weight, but most of them seem to have put it back on again and are in a constant battle with their weight . I do not want to spend the rest of my life checking every morsel that I eat. The ideal formula would appear to be exercise and balanced diet. What is a balanced diet? Does anybody actually understand GI, carbohydrates, Mineral intake? Then you move onto exercise – expensive gym and designer trainers or the cheaper option exercise DVDs indoors. But which one will it be? If all else fails go on the cabbage soup diet! This is wonderful, you eat cabbage until you are sick of it and nature takes its course – Hey Presto no more weight problem. Mind you your house will stink like a sewer, you will not be able to venture any further than 5 metres from a toilet and all your new friends (who are there to admire your new body) will stay away! This is not going to be as easy as I thought.
