What is the Special K Diet?

The Special K diet is not really a diet at all but more of a dieting challenge or kick start to a healthier eating regime, but for the purposes of this article we will call it the Special K diet.

Of course, it is fairly obvious that the Special K diet is really just a marketing gimmick designed to sell more boxes of the popular Kellogg’s cereal. Howover, there is no argument that if you consume a diet consisting of two bowls of Special K each day in addition to a healthy, well balanced meal you will undoubtedly lose weight. In addition to losing weight Kellogg’s also claim you can drop a jean size and fit more comfortably into your jeans.

A study behind the Special K diet by Loughborough University showed that the success rate for this particular diet was as high as 75% but the exact extent of the weight loss isn’t particularly clear; they merely state that these people “had slimmer waists and hips” which sounds good to me but is hardly very scientific.

Does the Special K Diet work?

The Special K diet (www.specialk.com) itself does allow you to eat between your 3 daily meals assuming it is fruit, vegetables or Special K Mini Breaks and Kellogg’s really do state the obvious when they recommend you maintain regular and adequate of alcohol free drinks. They make no mention of high caffeine drinks so according to them gallons of tea, coffee or Red Bull is fine.

The Special K diet is then a manageable and apt way to kick start a program of weight loss but this diet is far from a long term diet plan and will be fairly costly as the Special K cereal is not cheap. Try it for yourself and see if the Special K diet can make your jeans fit you better.

The Special K diet might be a great way to lose weight quickly but there are also other quick fix weight loss plans out there such as the Cambridge Diet and the Maple Syrup Diet. Do some reasearch and find out which diet is right for you.
