Well to be honest there isn’t really a one size fits all answer to that question it’s just a case of trying different ways to lose weight and work out whats best for you. However, to help give you some ideas I thought I’d share with you how I lost weight.
I recently embarked on a low calorie diet and thought I’d share my experience with people who are either also on a low calorie diet, or considering undertaking a low calorie diet but just don’t know where to start.
Calorie counting has been around for years so it’s not really a new way to lose weight but it is new to me and if it’s worked for thousands of men and women around the world then there’s no reason why it shouldn’t also work for me and help me to lose weight.
The idea behind calorie counting at first seemed to daunting a task but once you get used to looking at the nutritional information on every piece of food packaging…and I really do mean every piece of food packaging, it actually becomes second nature. I don’t see why I didn’t start this calorie counting thing earlier.
Women are supposed to eat 2000 calories a day and so to start with I’ve reduced my calorie intake by 200 calories a day so I’m not eating 1800 calories a day, which is still a fair amount for someone who sits behind a desk all day and doesn’t really do much else.
Breakfast now consists of a bowl of either all bran or bran flakes with semi skimmed milk, I tried skimmed milk but, to be fair, I might as well be smothering my breakfast with white coloured water. Then lunch well that gets a little more exciting I’ve been eating Marks and Spencer soups – note for anyone eating low calorie: don’t opt for the cream based soups they’re packed full of calories and saturated fat and generally have a high salt content as well which isn’t great for you either. Along with the soup I’m also eating fruit as part of my new low calorie, healthy diet, not too much though as I’m not really a fruit lover but enough to say I’m on my way to 5 a day!
Final meal of the day is of course dinner, which has also undergone a make over. I’m now eating low calorie meals, home made of course. Dinner is made up of plenty of veg usually potatoes as it’s essential to eat carbs in my humble opinion even though some diets severly restrict carb in take such as the Atkins Diet for me carbs are an essential part of a healthy balanced diet.
